Exclamation drinking water

Do you think it matters what type of water you drink? I drink tap and have been for ages, but recently I read that it was better to drink bottled water. I have to admit I'm a bit against this as I think it's environmnetally wasteful (but that's another story ). I also read that if you drink bottled then you miss out on fluride which you need to keep your teeth healthy.

I was wondering if anyone had a view about tap vs. bottle and if so what is better and why? Is there any scientific reasoning?

Default Try both and listen to what your body says

I'm not sure really on which is better. I have heard both arguments.

However regarding bottled water I will add this, check the bottle for what the source of the water is. Bottled water such as Aquafina and Dasani simply filter regular tap water and bottle it. They usually say Source: District of Peel City (City tap water) I don't think this is too much different than putting your own tap water through a Britta.

There are many different bottled waters that you can buy that are "Spring" water. This mean they come from Earth's natural clean reserves of water. The bottles I tend to get usually say Source: Nove Scotia Sugarloaf Spring, or something along those lines.

If you are concerned abouting buying bottles of water thinking it will contribute to waste than try buying bigger bottles. There are some that are over 4 Litres that you can set right on the counter, or in the fridge if you like your water cold, they usually have spouts on the bottom so you don't have to lift them to pour. When you're done be sure to recycle the bottle, return it to a Bottle Redemption Depot, or some grocery stores even have water refilling machines right in them, simply just refill the same bottle! If you like the idea of the big cooler bottles you can use these without the actual cooler unit. You can purchase handpumps which you can reuse everytime, these gallon bottles are great for refilling at the grocery store too!

Personally I perfer spring water due to it's taste, or maybe lack of taste. Tap water tastes funny to me usually. For me, I end up barely drinking any water if I only have tap water available. I've come to the conclusion that my body and tastebuds perfer bottled spring water therefore that is what I should give it. When I drink bottled spring water I actually enjoy it and find it refreshing. With tap water it's like I have to force it down or add a tea bag or fruit to hide the taste.

My suggestion, try both and listen what your body says.

I'm with you Leaf, I'm a tap guy . Water is water. I refuse to buy bottled water as landfill is full of them, its so unenvironmentally friendly, I just can't do it ! The main thing is to drink something. I have a jug of water on my desk and a drink that (I like to know how much I've drunk). I'm trying to drink 2 litres a day, but that doesn't always happen.

Yes! I think it's really important to by water with minerals in it. If you drink tap water there is all sorts of stuff in it which isn't good for you, likewise with cheap bottled water.

I only drink bottled water and I feel that it's sweeter and softer which makes it easier to drink. I also like to know how much I'm drinking and if you drink from a bottle it's easy to do. I do feel a bit bad about the environmental cost, but my bottles of Evian have a side bit which allows the bottle to be squashed easily so I'm hoping that they are recycling them.
