Thumbs up Guided meditation works!

Isn't it amazing how you can go to yoga for one thing and then you get something totally different from it which is a real surprise Last night I had a bit of a break through. We had a new teacher and she was really really good. I usually like it if they go quite strong so that i feel that I've had a good work out Well she was good and strong but finished a bit earlier than our normal teacher as she said that she wanted us to do a meditation with her. To be honest as soon as she said this my heart fell a bit. I just can't seem to meditate, my mind just goes crazy. Anyway she did this really great chakra meditation where we breathed in these different colors and went through all the chakras and honestly it was so cool. I felt really calm and peaceful. That was the first time that happened! I really felt that I got into it and had a glimpse (yeh only a glimpse) of what is possible. WOW. So if there is anyone else out there who struggles with this stuff like me then don't give up. It's amazing, addictive stuff and it's inourselves just waiting to be opened.

Thanks for sharing this story Helen, it sounds like you had a great experience! I agree with you. It takes a while to tune in to ourselves, isn't that the truth. So wierd as we're here all the time, being what we think is us, but then we calm everything down and get to a whole nother level. It blows my mind too. Keep at it, now that you've had a glimpse of what is inside you you need to try and remember that for next time you practice.

thanks for the glimpse HG.

now and then i find and slip into my perfect yoga routine, follow it diligently for weeks, for months. i don't realise that i'm getting safe and sleepy with it. and in time something other comes along and moves me sideways. you reminded me i'm due a movement.

Thanks for this thread Helen, I can totally relate to this. Last night I went with a friend to her 'restorative yoga' class. Not really my thing, or so I thought. I had had a busy day and was feeling, sort of, I don't know, out of balance. You know that way when ya just feel like the energy is just bouncing around, but not in a good way!

Well we go there and the first thing we did was lie over a bolster, eye bag on, the works! My mind was FREAKIN' out all over the place, I couldn't get into it. I was thinking, SH** I've got an hour and a half of this! But then, she just got us to focus on our breath and we did lots of other great breath stuff and you know what, I came out of there walking on air. Amazing what an hour and a half of breathing does for you!!! It reminded me I don't 'need' hectic, full on yoga, what I need (whether I know it or not), is to try and calm down and breathe.
