Does anyone know about the Global Mala Project being held on 22nd September in Nashville. All I know is that Shiva Rae is involved but I'd like to know more...

The Global Marla project is a weekend where studios, teachers, & organizations across the globe create fundraising celebrations, raising funds & awareness for some of the most essential issues of our times. It's going to be held in LA - Shiva Rae is driving the project globally.

The purpose of the Global Mala Project is to unite the global yoga community from every continent in the world, forming a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108 as the yoga world's offering to further the UN International Peace Day. Each center offers their form of a Yoga Mala according to their yoga tradition and inspiration:

* 108 Sun Salutations (or variations of 27, 56)
* 108 rounds of mantra such as the Gayatri or Maha Mrityanjaya
* 108 rounds of a kriya
* 108 minutes of meditation, kirtan, movement meditation

Each Center can be dedicated to practice or to practice and seva - service by integrating local action, and raising funds for the organization of their choice or joining forces with other yoga centers and raising funds for three specific projects.
