Here is exactly what i want directly – I’m 4 months pregnant, completely stiff/sore from eliminating most exercise since I’m so tired. The stretching exercises alone are helping me relax some.

I’m not the realm’s best fitness person, but this video has been great. i bought a belly dancing video up to now with different instructors, which I enjoyed, but I enjoyed this one rather more.

I really appreciated Amira explaining why learning the specific moves were great for a girl’s body often and to aid the girl’s body focus on pregnancy in addition to childbirth.

The moves are simple enough and explained well enough that even someone who hasn’t ever exercised could still do them.

After doing this video, I felt worked out, but not drenched in sweat. That is a great video!

This is a good workout. I think Amira does a great job of creating a calm and soothing workout for mom’s to be. I did all three sections and didn’t break a sweat. I think if you want a good stretch type of video this is for you but this video lacks intensity and is not really a work out.

I did like her insight on how the western world is the only place where women lay down to give birth and due to all the sitting and driving we do most of out muscles needed for childbirth are stiff. This video aims at giving you more flexibility and preparing you for child birth which was great.

Would definitely recommend you buy as an add on video to a more rigorous work-out.

“Volcano” Belly Dance Silk Veil ($32)

Amiras Belly Dance & Yoga For Pregnancy Prenatal Exercise
This is a full weight, high quality scarf. It doesn’t cling.

The size is perfect for fast pace dances that use quick veil motions.

It is wide but roughly waist to floor length.

I get many complements from other dancers about the color and dye job.

Wish I could have rated this 0 stars. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE, and did I mention its
    H O R R I B L E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 2 other Amira Mor DVDs and can attest to them being absolutely awful as well. (thankfully they were a gift from somebody, so I didn’t waste my own money on them)

This woman CAN NOT DANCE TO SAVE HER LIFE ! Her rhythm is awful, the way she dances is more like a stripper, not the art form that bellydance really should be.

Amazon carries some wonderful videos put out by Natural Journeys, such as the Veena & Neena videos, and the Rania videos. Buy those instead, you’ll be glad you did. Don’t waste your money on Amira Mor garbage.

    Bellydance Fitness ($6)

Amiras Belly Dance & Yoga For Pregnancy Prenatal Exercise
I don’t technically have the DVD yet (it’s in transit as I post this), but, I have both routines on video.

If this is a direct transfer, it can’t help but be wonderful :) .

Neena and Veena have made my boring exercise maintenance into a fun and muchly-anticipated part of my week. I did these routines near daily for 3 months, and then transitioned them to once or twice a week (doing other things, also). But, during that three months I improved my flexibility (I can reach *past* my toes!), my muscle tone, and learned to pinpoint my muscle isolations.

These two workouts have a good mix of “traditional” exercise movements (squats, lunges, crunches, etc.) and movements unique to belly dance. I think the twins provide an almost flawless method to learn the movements, as the routines are slow enough that you don’t need a separate teaching segment, but, fast enough to keep you improving once you know what you’re doing. I really appreciate their teaching style. They wear snug spandex workout clothes with dainty scarves, so, you can clearly see what they’re doing. Plus, there’s two of them, so, if the camera angle is a little “off” on one, you can see what to do from looking at the other.

The arms and abs routine is dedicated to strengthening your arms, rotating through a variety of arm movements, and an almost yoga or pilates style ab workout. These seem to be a bit more general, in the sense that you’re working your full arms and shoulders for the arm routine, and most of your abdominals at the same time, for the ab routine.

The hips, buns and thighs routine is more focused on isolated movements. There’s also a good stretching section that I really like.

What’s particularly nice is that they teach you “real” belly dance movements but in the structured environment of exercise routines. So, you can enjoy these workouts if you’re looking for something a little different, or, to build up a basic collection of movements. However, if you want to learn to dance properly, you’ll have to look elsewhere. These are exercise routines, not dance lessons.
