When you are menstrating your body is trying to expel the uterus lining, naturally our bodies create a downward flow to help with this. To do an inversion can reverse this flow.
I have never heard of it specifically being dangerous, but it is very unnatural for the body. I have heard that it can stop your menstration altogether which it will than in turn restart, making the length of the whole process longer. If you're anything like myself you don't want to have your period on and off, you'd rather have it and get it done and over with. If anyone knows more regarding this, or has a deeper understanding of it I'd also really be interested in hearing it! Namaste

I agree Mandy, I don't think it's dangerous but it sort of makes sense to me. When you are upright the blood flows down and out, if you're up side down then it has no where to go. Yoga teaches us to look at our body holistically, and that being the case nurturing our body when we are menstruating, honors that. If we take it a bit easier, we do some restorative and gentle yoga we tend to feel much better (speaking for myself that is
).
