Question yoga stuff do we need it?

I'm just a beginner so what do I know, but I wondered, why do we have to complicate yoga with all this other stuff like chakras, moola bunda or whatever, why not just do the poses and keep it simple .

Is it possible to be a 'good' yogie and just do the classes and forget about all the other stuff. As a beginner personally I think everything else sounds a bit complicated when I still just trying to make my body do what I tell it and to be honest even though my teacher tells us about them I'm not sure I'm doing them right anyway.

Hey Timmy!

When you were a baby, you were fed milk, when you were weaned you were fed mushed up food, when you were a toddler your food was cut up into easy to manage pieces. When you were old enough to cut your own food, you were allowed to do that for yourself, and to choose what from the plate you ate & what you didn't.

When you were a baby, and feeding on milk, there was still people out there eating curry. But as a baby if you were fed it you wouldn't have been able to process it. It would have been too complicated for your body to digest.

Take what you can digest from your practice in the moment you are in, let the things that appear to be overcomplicating the practice sit on the plate, come back for seconds when you have digested the Asana's, and you feel ready to take on more information.

Its your body, and your practice, you go at your pace

When you start anything new it all seems to be confusing don't you think? Then as you get more used to it, it's easier. Don't worry about the things that are said that don't make sense. My teacher says that we know all this stuff anyway, it's inside us, it's not new, just forgotten. So relax Timmy, don't sweat it. When you're ready you will 'get' all this stuff that for now seems a bit confusing.
