Default Chakras - sanskrit names needed

I know the english names for the chakras but I'm not sure about the sanskrit names. Does anyone know much about this, and maybe tell me of a good website or book where I can learn more? Thanks.

Default Chakras - sanskrit

okay, starting from the base chakra and moving through - 1st..Muladhara, 2nd..Svadhisthana..3rd Manipura..4th Anahata..5th Vishuddha..6th Ajna and 7th Sahasrara. How beautiful the chakras sound in Sanskrit...such a poetic, spiritual language

I totally agree with you Shanti - they sound so much more authentic in sanskrit.

Carolyn Myss, author of a book which I'd highly recommend about the chakras called 'Anatomy of the Spirit' says that each of these energy centres contains a universal spiritual life lesson that we must learn as we evolve into higher conciousness:

- Base or first chakra - Muladhara: lessons related to the material world
- Sacral or second chakra - Svadhisthana: lessons related to sexuality, work and physical desire
- Solar plexus or third charka - Manipura: lessons related to ego, personality and self esteem
- Heart or fourth chakra - Anahata: lessons related to love, forgiveness and compassion
- Throat or fifth chakra - Vishuddha: lessons related to will and self-expression
- Third eye or sixth chakra - Ajna: lessons related to mind, intuition, insight and wisdom
- Crown or seventh chakra - Sahasrara: lessons related to spirituality

Hope this helps!
