Default Making it relevant

My teacher is great at highlighting things that we do in class that we can use in everyday life. One interesting thing she said last night was that twist poses (ugh) squeeze our internal organs and can be uncomfortable and as you're in a tight position all tied up in knots. She suggesed that we breathe through this discomfort and relax into it rather than pushing against it, and that in the real world if we find ourselves in a difficult situation this rule applies the same ie. try not to get worked up, and breathe into it. It really struck a core with me. I'll definitely remember that next time

Me too, I love it when I get told something that I do in class that's relevant to the outside world. Like with the breath. Most of us have pretty hectic lives and there is some degree of stress there. If you remember to extend your exhale (breathe in for 2 counts and breathe out for 4 counts), this calms down your nervous system, your adrenal glands slow down and the stress hormone cortosol is expelled from the body on the out breath. If you're ever stressed or anxious just remember to lengthen the exhale. Good eh?
