Talking yoga pose - gate pose

I love the feeling of this pose stretching the side of my waist, but I have real trouble planting my straight leg foot on the floor. My toes curl up and I can't seem to get them to stick down (they are not very obedient here ). Are there any suggestions how I can get my foot/toes to stay on the floor in this yoga pose?

Hi Jen - try doing it with your knee bent. It is really important to have the leg out to the side in line with your hips. The foot should be firmly planted on the floor to give you some grip. So if you have to bend the leg a bit, then just do it! See how you go.

Good idea David, or perhaps try doing the pose but don't stretch so far over. The arching over to one side is what puts pressure on that straightened leg foot, if that makes sense, so don't stretch over so far.
