Default Pranayama classes in Sydney?

Does anyone know of someone in Sydney who teaches 100% pranayama classes?

I'm interested in someone who has a class devoted solely to this practice and not just as an addition to an asana class.

I've been reading Richard Rosen's excellent book, "the yoga of breath" and I'm interested in exploring the practice more deeply.

Namaste.

Hi Harbour Boy

I'm interested in pranayama too. Can you tell me a little about that book by Richard Rosen. Can you buy it in Sydney?

Hi Harbourboy

Welcome! Thanks for joining YogaTalk .

You should contact Sindar Kaur she is a pranayama teacher and actually she's just about to start an advanced pranayama course called Lifeforce in Yoga Therapy. She's also a Yoga Teacher Trainer at Nature Care College in St Leonard's and directs a long standing healing practice on the North Shore.

You can contact her at energymedicines@gmail.com.

Hi Turiya - welcome to YogaTalk too.

I don't know about Rosen's book but I can recommend 2 excellent books if you're interested in learning more about the breath and pranayama (you can get them both in Sydney).

The first is Donna Farhi's book called 'The Breathing Book' - Good health and vitality through essential breath work. It is excellent and a great resource on how the breath works as well as specific pranayama practices. I also really like AG Mohans book' Yoga for Body Breath and Mind'.

Hope this helps

Default Richard Rosen - Yoga of Breath info

This is a link to the Amazon website which has more information about Richard Rosen's book, The yoga of breath.

Amazon.com: The Yoga of Breath: A Step-by-Step Guide to Pranayama: Richard Rosen: Books

Thank you Yogatea for the lead to Sindar Kaur. She's close to me too. That's great.

If anyone else has other teachers, I'd be interested in hearing about them too.

Many thanks.

I don't really do much pranayama - my teacher doesn't teach it. Is it something that you can learn from a book? I thought you needed someone experienced to teach you and you had to be practising yoga for many years before you try it? Is that true?
