Default teach what you preach

Look this might not be very PC but I have a certain expectation of my yoga teachers. They don't have to be pin thin, but they do have to practice what they teach a bit and be in shape. I went with a friend of mine to a hatha class so I guess they don't move as much as we do in Bikram, but the teacher well quite large and didn't do most of the poses (she just sat and instructed and then did a bit of walking around the room). Look I know people look for different things from yoga, but this was a joke . The class definitely was not for me (I won't be going back) but good to go a check out something new (if for nothing else but to confirm this ).

So when did yoga teachers teach 'thinness' or 'fitness'?? - no purple I don't look for these attributes from my teacher and if you do then you're not practicing yoga, you're doing, well I'm not sure what you're doing . Bikram might be a more body shape type of yoga but there is much more to it than that!

No I agree with you purple mat, if a teacher is teaching about health and welbeing then they should look healthy. I need a teacher who inspires me and this may sound a bit shallow but I'd prefer one that looks like they're in shape themselves so they can do their worst one me

Interesting post. For me, a yoga teacher is someone who is sharing what they know about a holistic way of life, beyond the asana, pranayama and meditation that is taught in class. It's not about how they look, it's about them providing you with a safe space to be able to work your own stuff out and listen to what your own body needs. To be in your body and to understand what is going on in a quiet space with your breath.

Don't you want a teacher than can help you discover yourself from the inside out rather than just looking good from the outside in?

I get it, but I guess I'd like both.
