Default Body heat - Bikram yoga

I'm interested in trying bikram yoga but am worried that it might be too hot for me. Can anyone tell me how hot the room is and if they know if anyone has ever overheated doing this type of hot yoga?

It's over 100 degrees, and high humidity.

I don't know of anyone who's overheated from it though. But it's an extreme enviroment, that's for sure!

I was wondering...if you are a bit overweight and not as young as I'd like to be () do you think it would be suitable? It sounds pretty extreme. I would like to try and lose some kilos but this might not be the way!!

If you're not into heat then this yoga isn't for you - as J says, it's an extreme environment and it's not for everyone.

But look, I'd definitely go and try it out you might find that you love it. if you're wanting to lose kilos this is a GREAT way to do it.

I think you just never know.

I think it has to do more with your brain than your body. some really in shape people don't like the extreme enviroment and don't stick with bikram... other really out of shape people stick with it....

I think it just depends on what you want and what you like.

everyone CAN do it, it's just a matter of if you want to...... if that extreme envirotment is your thing or not.

100 degree heat!!! No way, you've gotta be kidding!

How do you guys cope - aieeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooo aren't you little puddles on the floor at the end? WOW I'm exhausted and hot at the end of my hatha class (tee hee) as you say, it's not for everyone!

heck yeah there's little puddles on the floor. and they're there well before the end. sometimes when you're in a pose sweat will just be running off of you from some low point.

your body can overcome the heat though. people live and work in conditions like that all the time. it's just a challange to overcome

when you do overcome it, it's very cool

I don't get it how can this extreme environment be good for you?? If you're living and working in 100 degree heat you're probably some poor sole in a sweat shop. It sounds a bit sadistic to me but each to their own.

yeah but for people who sit around at a desk or in traffic all their lives, 90 minutes of extremely hard work feels good

plus do you know much alchohol I used to have to drink burn off the same energy I can burn off in one 90 minute Bikram class????
