this place is quiet.

I just did my first Bikram class. I'm a sweater. I mean, rivers flowing from me. Even the teacher was amazed. I guess it takes a day or a week before you start to feel the benefits. Right now I feel like I was hit by a bus.

second class done. the flood continued unabated. do you think it will level out with bikram time and perisistence? why do some people sweat alot and others hardly at all? a friend tells me that sweating is a sign of good health. but the general picture that comes to mind is of an unfit sunday jogger, sweat pouring off him/her. at least, i'm sticking with the received wisdom that sweaters are more sexy.

DON'T WORRY Everything is normal i really sweatted heaps when i first started but now that i've been going awhile i think that my body has gotten used to it and don't get me wrong i still sweat, but not nearly as much. I love the feeling of the heat in the body and all the muscles moving. Did you like the practice? Also drink loads, the first time i went i didn't drink enough afterwards and felt a bit faint all next day. Make sure your food has quite a bit of salt init too.

PS good to see another bikram yogie, in here

Go the bikram yogies! ...Sorry I only said that coz I was a little down on you guys in that last thread about bikram.

Look personally any yoga that has the word 'survived' as the title of the thread you've gotta look at twice! And 'hit by a bus' when you've finished can't be good!!! Seriously, I don't want to dis your experience but what about that great magic amazing feeling of floating out of the room full of energy and feeling balanced and calm. Now THAT's yoga.

I do Bikram, and I come out of the room feeling full of energy and balanced and calm all the time. heck, I feel like that IN the room all the time!

and that's one of the things I like about Bikram yoga - I figure if I can learn to feel relaxed and calm and balanced in that 110 degree room, then I can feel relaxed and balanced and calm anywhere

I've been to probably 1000 classes, and I still sweat buckets. I don't think there's anything wrong with sweating. The sunday jogger sweats a lot because they're jogging around with all that extra weight.

we're just sweating because we're HOT man!

some people are just genetically inclined to sweat more than other, that's all.

Johnny you are SOOOO right - I also come out on cloud nine, there is nothing like a pure yoga high. For me only Bikram does that.

I know this might sound gross, but my sweat doesn't actually smell of anything anymore. I guess I just flush my system each time I go and get rid of toxins. (Having said that I can really tell if I've been eating a bit bad, it comes out in the sweat definitely). Anyone else notice this?

yeah, sweat itself doesn't stink, if you keep your system clean.

but if you let even clean sweat sit around, it will really start to stink no matter what! just like a clean but wet towel will start to stink if you let it sit around long enough.

If I've been drinking (alchohol) I can tell it in my sweat

and if your sweat is salty, it means you haven't been taking in enough liquids.

wow, you all here are cool. I like talking about yoga

This is interesting...I sweat a lot in bikram, but as everyone else is too I hope they can't smell me My sweat is salty and I didn't realise that was because I was dehydrated. I guess I need to drink more.
