Default What is Anusara yoga

I know this sounds a bit silly but I don't know what Anusara is. I live in Australia and I'm not sure we have it out here.

I went to the website and I'm still not clear about how it differs to other types of yoga. Can anyone elighten me? What's its benefits or how does it differ over others?

Thanks!

Default Anusara Yoga

Anusara is a bit like Hatha yoga, but it's even more focused on getting in touch with yourself and your breath, and they are VERY big on alignment (John Friend who started Anusara is an ex-Iyengar student. He is also a buddhist so there is quite a buddhist slant to it). In my experience, classes are slow and meditative - with a big focus on your heart and being graceful.

Yes that is the general vibe, I've not tried it myself but it has Hatha roots...I'm not sure if there's anyone in Oz teaching it?

Anusara Yoga is dynamic, expressive and grounded in the non-dual Tantric tradition of India where the body is honoured as the portal to the spirit. It is a practical way of aligning our body and mind with the pure expression of the heart. When we experience this alignment we feel good on a deep and profound level which allows us to participate in the world with a sense of ease and harmony. Stepping into the flow of Grace is the highest purpose of Anusara Yoga.

Anusara Yoga was founded by John Friend, a highly respected teacher from the United States.

In Oz, there are many dedicated and Anusara yoga certified teachers(a rarity, as their teacher training process is quite strict), one of them in Sydney is Art of yoga at Summer hill.Their address is :
